INCOME / FREE TOOL

Dividend calculator

Calculate dividend income, dividend yield and cash after your withholding deduction. Free NGN, USD and other currency examples. No sign-up needed.

Your assumptions

Example inputs are prefilled. Replace them with your figures.

Use one currency throughout. Changing this label does not convert your values.

YOUR SCENARIO

Gross dividend—
Deduction—
Net dividend—
Yield for entered period—

The yield covers the entered dividend period; it is not automatically an annual yield. Enter the applicable deduction yourself. Future dividends are not guaranteed.

How it works

Gross dividend = shares × dividend per share. Net = gross × (1 − withholding rate). Period yield = dividend per share ÷ share price.

Worked examples

Illustrative NGN example: 1,000 shares paying ₦3.50 each produce ₦3,500 gross. At a share price of ₦70, the yield for that payment period is 5%. An assumed 10% withholding deduction leaves ₦3,150. The deduction is an example, not a Nigerian tax-rate recommendation.

Illustrative USD example: 100 shares paying $0.50 each produce $50 gross. At a $40 share price, the yield for that payment period is 1.25%. An assumed 15% withholding deduction leaves $42.50. Use the actual deduction that applies to your account.

Common questions

How much dividend will my investment earn?

Multiply the number of eligible shares by the declared cash dividend per share. For example, 1,000 shares × 3.50 gives 3,500 before deductions. Check the issuer’s announcement and your eligibility; this tool does not predict the next dividend.

How do I calculate dividend yield?

Divide the dividend per share by the share price, then multiply by 100. Use total dividends for a year only if you want an annual yield; one interim payment is not the annual dividend.

How do I calculate dividends after withholding tax?

Multiply gross dividend income by one minus your withholding percentage divided by 100. Enter the applicable deduction yourself; the calculator does not determine tax residency, treaty eligibility, refunds, fees or your final tax liability.

Can I estimate dividends from an amount I plan to invest?

First divide the investment amount by your assumed purchase price to estimate the share count, allowing for fees and any whole-share restrictions. Enter that share count in the calculator. The tool does not place a trade.

Can I calculate dividends for Nigerian or US stocks?

Yes. Enter the share count, declared dividend per share and price yourself, then choose NGN, USD or another display currency. The tool does not fetch declarations or apply a country’s tax rate automatically.

Does this include dividend reinvestment?

No. It estimates one payment period and a deduction you enter. It does not project reinvested dividends or guarantee future payments.
