Use one currency throughout. Changing this label does not convert your values.

YOUR SCENARIO

Total cost—
Proceeds including dividends—
Net gain / loss—
Total return—

One holding in one currency. Purchase and sale fees are entered as cash amounts, not percentages. Taxes, currency movements and dividend reinvestment are excluded.

How it works

Cost = shares × purchase price + purchase fees. Proceeds = shares × sale price − sale fees + dividends. Return = (proceeds − cost) ÷ cost.

Worked example

Buy 100 shares at 50 with purchase fees of 10: the cost is 5,010. At a sale price of 60, sale fees of 15 and total dividends of 100, proceeds are 6,085. The gain is 1,075 and the total return is about 21.46%.

Common questions

How do I calculate stock profit including fees?

Subtract the full purchase cost, including purchase fees, from sale proceeds after sale fees, then add cash dividends. This calculator also expresses the gain or loss as a percentage of the full purchase cost.

Is total return the same as annual return?

No. Total return covers the whole holding period. Use the CAGR calculator for an annualized rate when there are no deposits or withdrawals between the starting and ending values.

Can I use NGN, USD or fractional shares?

Yes. The calculator supports fractional shares and several display currencies. Enter all figures in one currency; it does not convert exchange rates or include taxes.
